Plitvice Lakes National Park

Brief Description

The waters flowing over the limestone and chalk have, over thousands of years, deposited travertine barriers, creating natural dams which in turn have created a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls. These geological processes continue today. The forests in the park are home to bears, wolves and many rare bird species.

Other major landmarks of the city are the Built 1135-1146 Stone Bridge, a masterpiece of Roman engineering and for a long time the only stone crossing of the Danube east of Ulm, as well as the Old Town Hall with the kingdom hall, one of the most important medieval, urban secular buildings in Germany.
